Who is this qualification for?
The objective of this qualification is to support a role in the workplace. It is designed for learners who currently hold a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a door supervisor and need to be brought up to date with the new licence-linked qualifications requirements.
Entry Requirements
To register for this qualification, learners must be aged 18 and over.
Learners will need to show that they hold a current and valid First Aid or Emergency First Aid certificate* that meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. It is an SIA requirement that training centres must confirm that each learner is sufficiently qualified in First Aid or Emergency First Aid and also produce a valid ACT Awareness Certificate. How long will it take?
To complete this qualificationĀ learners areĀ expected to undertake approximatelyĀ 23Ā hoursĀ of learning.Ā The SIA stipulates a minimumĀ ofĀ 13Ā contact hours (2-days) ifĀ self-studyĀ is undertaken.
Topics covered
These include principles ofĀ terror threatĀ awareness,Ā principles of using equipment as a door supervisor andĀ theĀ application of physical intervention skills.
Assessment method
This qualification isĀ assessed by practical assessments and multiple-choice examinations.
Principles of Terror Threat Awareness in the Private Security Industry:
- A 10 Question, 20-minute exam paper. The pass mark required is 70%.
Principles of Using Equipment as a Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry:
- A 5 Question, 10-minute exam paper. The pass mark required is 70%.
This unit is also assessed by a 5-minute practical exercise with communication devices (I.e. ā two-way radio)
Application of Physical Intervention Skills in the Private Security Industry:
- A 30 question exam paper taken in 45 minutes requiring a pass mark of at least 80%. Followed by the practical where every learner performance every technique and is internally assessed by the trainer. Learners require 100% for this part.
ID Requirements
Centres are required to ensure that each learnerās photograph and formal identification documents are checked and recorded before they are allowed to sit the examination/assessment. Only a formal passport-style photo is acceptable and the documents required are listed separately when you click on toĀ ID REQUIREMENTS.
